HOW IT WORKS
Step 1: Consultation
This is our chance to get to know about you; including anything from career and work obligations to past exercise experience. Our goal is to get a sense of the full person so we can learn how we can best serve you.
Step 2: Assessment
This allows us to learn about how you move, your strengths, your weaknesses, and any type of limitations that may be present. This helps us establish an understanding of WHAT to include in your program. If you think of a pyramid, we are trying to learn where your foundation needs improvements so we can build the most secure base possible!
Step 3: One-on-one Sessions
This is when we introduce you to your individual program. We use this time to teach you how to MOVE better and gain confidence with the movements and experiences that you will perform in your program.
Step 4: Training at Pennant
This is the fun part! This is the ongoing process of following a program designed by your coach, specifically, for you. You will train under the supervision of coaches, and with a community of people, who are excited to be a part of your journey in fitness.
Additionally, this is an ongoing conversation that evolves over time. Goals change, abilities change and schedules change, but your coach will always be there to help you navigate the change.
When I retired last March at age 68 I decided to take advantage of my newfound freedom by focusing on getting fit and healthy. I was 50 pounds overweight and arthritis in my spine, hips and shoulders had really slowed me down… I met three times a week with my personal coach and, over the ensuing months saw my strength and range of motion steadily improve as I gradually lost 45 pounds. Each workout with my coach is customized to my needs, and pushes just a little beyond the previous workout. When a particular joint has been flaring up from my arthritis, my coach has devised exercises to strengthen the muscles supporting that joint so that the next flare wouldn’t be as limiting. Amazingly, I look forward to going to the gym…
Now, after working with a personal coach for 7 months I have “graduated” to working independently on customized daily routines that include stretches, strengthening, and cardio conditioning. Each daily workout is different, so it never feels as if I am falling into a rut…My experience working with the personal coaches at Pennant has truly been life changing. I feel better, and am able to move more freely and enjoy life more fully. I strongly encourage anyone – regardless of your age or current level of fitness – to come check out Pennant CrossFit. You won’t regret it!Geri S.
It is the only New Year’s Resolution I have ever kept! The coaches are focused on safety and correct form in addition to programming challenging workouts. For me personally I have had chronic lower back issues for much of my adult life, not really understanding exactly what I should do differently and essentially just dealing with it when it flared up. Last October 2018, I was in pain again for reasons unrelated to CrossFit and decided that I needed to figure out how to manage this problem. I asked coach Kevin to program workouts for me with my lower back challenges in mind and I have been incredibly happy with both the workouts he has created and the results I have seen. I learned very quickly the correct way to warm up specific to my needs before every work out, move slowly and deliberately through moves and to not be concerned with the amount of weight on the bar. Without even realizing how or when it happened, I am stronger now than I have ever been. I can do moves in the gym, like strict pull ups, which I never imagined would be possible and the best part of all is that I am pain free. I would highly recommend personal programming to those with chronic issues and to those without!!Kristin S.
